Screening: Fragments for Venus with Alice Diop in person
October 1, 2025 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
We are excited to welcome Gardner FSC fellow Alice Diop back to Harvard to screen her new short film Fragments for Venus (France/Italy, 2025, 21 minutes), which premiered at the Venice Film Festival and New York Film Festival. FSC -Harvard fellow Kendra McLaughlin worked as a cinematographer on the film.
“Continuing the meditations that shaped Saint Omer (NYFF60), Alice Diop’s new short indexes centuries-old artistic representation in the Louvre before observing womanhood on the streets of contemporary New York. Running between refined and loose—Miu Miu costumes complement quotidian streetwear while the museum’s silent halls are juxtaposed with metropolitan clamor—Fragments for Venus poses difficult questions while celebrating everyday living’s basic pleasures.” – New York Film Festival
