FSC-Harvard Fellow 2023-24

Kendra McLaughlin is a Canadian filmmaker and Ph.D. student combining Film & Visual Studies with Critical Media Practice and Anthropology. She was previously in residence at Le Fresnoy, France’s national contemporary arts studio, and a participant in Bruno Latour’s School of Political Arts (SPEAP). She received an M.A. in Human Rights from Sciences Po as a Clifford Tower fellow, and a A.B. from Harvard College as a Davis UWC Scholar. She is currently a fellow at Harvard’s Film Study Center and a graduate affiliate at the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs.

No mires abajo (Don’t Look Down) observes a group of fishermen’s daily labor along a harsh ocean shoreline and cliffs near Mala, Perú, through which this short film meditates on the banality of death and inter-species dependence within such practices.
