Project Description
Veronika Kusumaryati

FSC-Harvard Fellow 2015-16, 2017-18
Veronika Kusumaryati is PhD candidate in Anthropology with a secondary field in Film and Visual Studies at Harvard University. She is currently working on her dissertation about colonial politics and the making of political consciousness in West Papua, a self-identifying term that refers to Papua and West Papua provinces of Indonesia. She received her bachelor degree in Film and Media Studies from the Jakarta Institute of Arts and has worked as a film and video curator since then. For the Film Study Center Fellowship, she’s developing an online video platform with her Papuan subjects called West Papua Updates. West Papua Updates is a non-profit video-channel providing updates on the situation in West Papua and now is part of the media foundation Tabloid Jubi. It aims to provide spaces for Papuans to raise their voices, and to be heard by broader audiences.
