APPLICATION GUIDELINES

The next deadline for the 2024-25 FSC-Harvard Fellowships is February 15, 2024.

Application opens January 5, 2024

  1. Please prepare the following items as PDF documents using the file name format “FIRST LAST NAME Proposal” etc.:
    • Proposal: a 2-3 page document which includes:
      • Short description of your project (up to 50 words)
      • A description of your project in longer detail, including the final form it will take
      • Statement on the project’s significance (historical, cultural, artistic, political, etc.)
      • Summary of your project’s theoretical orientation, and/or how the film’s form and ideas engage with those of other filmmakers, artists, writers, or thinkers (for graduate students, this should include the project’s relationship to the applicant’s previous and prospective research)
      • If you are a current fellow applying for continued support, please briefly describe how the fellowship advanced your project this year. Fellows can receive up to $5,000 per project. Current fellows reapplying with a new project, and able to demonstrate they are at or near completion of their previously funded project, will be considered for the full amount of financial support.
    • Project Budget:  A detailed, itemized listing of costs. Please also include additional possible sources of financing.
    • Curriculum Vitae: Please provide a CV for the applicant and co-director, if any
    • University transcript of the applicant’s graduate studies (for graduate student applicants only). Unofficial transcripts are accepted.
  2. Online Sample: It is highly recommended you include media related to your proposed project, if you have any. Please prepare a Vimeo or other link of up to 10 minutes of the applicant’s work. It can be one continuous 10-minute stretch, or two smaller excerpts adding up to 10 minutes. If you submit a longer work, please specify which 10 minutes you would like the committee to view.
  3. Letter of recommendation:  Please have your recommender email a letter to  fsc@fas.harvard.edu. Harvard faculty do not need a letter of recommendation; in the case of graduate students, the letter must be from the applicant’s advisor.
  4. Please complete this online application form and upload the documents above. If you do not have a Google account, please use this form instead.
