Radcliffe-FSC Fellowship

The Film Study Center and the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study invite applications for annual fellowships from outstanding practitioners of film, video, sound art, and new media.

Applicants must have a significant body of independent work which displays exceptional accomplishment and formal innovation. Applications for nonfiction and/or culturally inflected projects are particularly encouraged.

Fellows receive a stipend of $78,000 plus an additional $5,000 to cover project expenses. They are provided studio or office space, use of the Film Study Center’s equipment and facilities, and access to libraries and other Harvard University resources during the fellowship year, which extends from September through June. Fellows are also invited to be part of the FSC’s community of filmmakers by participating in our work-in-progress screenings, workshops, and other events.

Radcliffe-Film Study Center fellows are expected to reside at the Radcliffe Institute or in the Boston area for the duration of the fellowship so that they may participate in the life of the community. Fellows are also invited to be part of the FSC’s community of filmmakers by participating in our work-in-progress screenings, workshops, and other events. They are asked to make a presentation of their work at the Film Study Center, the Harvard Film Archive, the Carpenter Center for the Visual Arts, or the Radcliffe Institute.

The annual application deadline for FSC–Radcliffe Fellowships is in the fall, usually in September. Applicants are notified of the status of their application the following spring, usually in March.

The application process is administered by the Radcliffe Institute Fellowship Program, to which all inquiries should be directed.
