Rosine Mbakam grew up in Yaoundé in a popular neighborhood that nourished her imagination as a filmmaker. After working at STV in Douala and studying at INSAS, a Belgian film school, she founded her production company, Tândor Productions. She has directed four feature-length documentaries. The New Yorker describes her as “an original filmmaker of exceptional sensitivity; one of the greatest documentary filmmakers working today.” Her debut fiction feature, Mambar Pierrette, had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in 2023.
