Katarina Burin
FSC-Harvard Fellow 2026-27
Katarina Burin is an artist based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, whose work engages architecture, archives, and the unstable boundary between history and fiction. Working across sculpture, drawing, text, and installation, she uses materials such as concrete, ceramics, metal, and wood to construct objects that bring personal memory into dialogue with broader cultural histories. Her projects often center overlooked or imagined figures, particularly women, through which she reconsiders authorship, feminist counter-histories, and the authority of the archive.
Burin has exhibited widely in the United States and Europe, including at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston, the Neubauer Collegium at the University of Chicago, and the Drawing Center in New York. She is a recipient of a 2025 Guggenheim Fellowship and teaches in the Department of Art, Film, and Visual Studies at Harvard University.

Hollows
Katarina Burin and Andy Graydon
Hollows is a collaborative project by Katarina Burin and Andy Graydon that explores the shifting relationship between sound, structure, and form through site recordings, sculptural fabrication, and audiovisual composition. Working with concrete architectures and industrial remnants across Boston and Europe, the project treats spaces not as fixed entities but as resonant systems, assemblages of cavities, thresholds, and openings where sound gathers, distorts, and re-emerges. Field recordings, coded transmissions, and re-spatialized audio intersect with hollow, perforated sculptural forms that act as listening devices, producing displacements between voice, site, and memory. The resulting large-scale installation and performance environment invites visitors to navigate an unstable architectural landscape shaped by delay, reflection, and interference, where sound does not simply inhabit space but actively constructs and erodes it.
