Emilia Mello is a Brazilian-American filmmaker and scholar based is São Paulo, Brazil. Her first feature documentary, No Kings (2020) premiered at CPH:DOX and screened at True/False 2021, MoMA Doc Fortnight 2022, and others. She graduated magna cum laude from Columbia University with a degree in Evolution and Environmental Biology and has an MFA at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She is currently a PhD student at Harvard AFVS. Her work has received support from the Tribeca Film Institute, Sundance Documentary Film Program, Logan Nonfiction Program, DOCSP, and Visions du Réel, among others.
