Carmine Grimaldi

Carmine Grimaldi’s is a filmmaker and doctoral candidate in history at the University of Chicago. His films include If Only There Were Peace (2017, co-directed with Deniz Tortum), one of the roughs a kosmos (2017), and See Servicing Guide: Fannie Mae Single Family[…] (2016). His work has screened at festivals such as True/False, Visions du Reel, Sheffield, RIDM, Camden and Dokufest, where he won the prize for best short documentary. In 2017, Filmmaker Magazine named him one of the 25 New Faces of Independent Film.

A film production company—comprised of Turks, Kurds, Iraqi refugees, and former soldiers of the Free Syrian Army—spend a day in the Turkish countryside, shooting a melodrama about the Kurdish-Turkish conflict.
