Lucy Johnson is a doctoral candidate in Philosophy and Critical Media Practice at Harvard University. In her filmmaking, she focuses on documenting Americans’ affective and imaginative relationships to land and water, particularly as these relationships take shape in the context of extraction, scientific research, and recreation.

Her philosophical research centers on early modern natural philosophy, with additional interests in contemporary philosophy of causation, philosophy of action, and the ethics of conversation. She is currently writing on Margaret Cavendish and Thomas Hobbes.
