Tiff Rekem is a filmmaker from Redlands, California. Her work explores masculinity, the aging body and home, and tourism to sites of national tragedy, framed through her dual Taiwanese and Jewish heritage. She graduated from Harvard College in 2021 with a B.A. in Art, Film, and Visual Studies and Social Anthropology. Tiff’s most recent film Declarations of Love showed at the Maysles Documentary Center in Harlem as an official selection in the 2022 Prismatic Ground Film Festival. She lives and works between Brooklyn, NY and Cambridge, MA.

Project description:
Under the Kuomintang Party’s four-decade authoritarian rule in Taiwan known as the White Terror (1949-1987), they imprisoned thousands of political dissidents on Green Island, located 20 miles off the eastern coast of Taiwan, including the filmmaker’s two great-uncles for 30-year sentences. Now boasting the deepest underwater mailbox in the world for recreational divers, Green Island is a booming vacation destination.
