Dieudo Hamadi’s “Downstream to Kinshasa” Official Cannes Selection

Victims of the Six-Day War in the Democratic Republic of Congo march for justice in the film “Downstream to Kinshasa.”

Congratulations to filmmaker Dieudo Hamadi (2019-20 McMillan-Stewart Fellow), whose latest film, Downstream to Kinshasa, was selected for this year’s Cannes Film Festival. In place of the traditional festival this year, Cannes intends to present its selection at prominent festivals, including the Toronto, San Sebastian, Telluride, and Venice film festivals.

While visiting Harvard last October for his McMillan-Stewart Fellowship in Distinguished Filmmaking, Hamadi met with students and FSC fellows where he shared a work in progress of Downstream to Kinshasa. We hope this moving film reaches a broad audience.
